Solar Energy
Solar energy refers to energy that is gained directed from solar sources (i.e the Sun) in the form of radiated heat and light. This form of power drives the entire planet, every facet of almost everything is directly affected by it from the climate and weather through to crops and agriculture, and even vitamin D that we all absorb from the sun. All energy on Earth comes initially from the sun and solar sources. Solar energy can now be harnessed thanks to modern technology and there are many applications in roofing, from the more common use with solar panels to collect energy and allow it to be converted into electricity through to using it to heat water pipes in the roof so a boiler is not needed. Solar energy has influenced building design for centuries but it is only very recently that we have been able to harness it directly using photovoltaic cells. These are now affordable and offer an excellent way to save money on your bills, after all the power gained from the sun is completely free! With rising costs for energy the solar solution is seen as perfectly viable and affordable by many and the technology is now very efficient. If adorning your house with photovoltaic cells does not appeal to you either for aesthetic or technical reasons then you can invest in fixtures and fittings that are less intrusive that can heat tanks of hot water in your roof for you to use at your leisure.
